The house on the water

Three generations, one boat,  the same lake.

Young Snow View was built from Kashmiri deodar and walnut, and it has been moored on the same ghat since our grandfather's time. Every ceiling panel is khatamband — hundreds of interlocking pieces fitted without a single nail — and the carpets underfoot were knotted by hand in the old city.

We keep six chambers. Breakfast arrives on the deck, dinner is wazwan if you'd like it, and the shikara is yours whenever the light looks right.

  • Free Wi-Fi throughout
  • Airport pickup & drop
  • Breakfast included
  • In-room heating (bukhari)
  • Private shikara on call
  • Laundry & housekeeping
  • Room service until 11pm
  • Guided day tours

Traditional shikara boat with canopy on Dal Lake

01 — On the water

Sunrise Shikara

Slip out at first light with our boatman for the floating vegetable market at Rad Bugh, where trade still happens paddle-to-paddle before the lake wakes.

Houseboat dining room laid for a Kashmiri meal

02 — At the table

Wazwan & Kahwa

A copper trami of rogan josh, tabak maaz and gushtaba, served the way Kashmiri families have for centuries — followed by saffron kahwa on the deck.

Evening

Craft & Culture

Walk Downtown Srinagar with a local guide — papier-mâché workshops, the Jamia Masjid's deodar pillars, and a pashmina loom still worked by hand.

We have stayed in a lot of hotels, but nothing like waking up on the water with the Pir Panjal turning pink. The woodwork inside is museum-grade.
